Definition 1.2 (Outcomes and Events)
Suppose is a probability space.
The elements of are called outcomes, and the elements of are called events.
Probabilities live on events
Probabilities are assigned to events rather than to individual outcomes.
When is countable, is taken to be the power set of , so every subset of outcomes is an event.
